The Vision

Over one billion people live in extreme poverty, which is defined as living on less than a dollar a day. Education is necessary to break this cycle of poverty, but in this increasingly technological world, conventional methods will not suffice. [Connect a Kid] aims to harness the power of youth to provide impoverished kids with laptops - empowering kids around the globe.

The Project

The One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) Foundation designed and developed a $200 laptop specifically with children in mind. The laptop is durable, efficient, and contains various features, including a wireless network and camera, to help kids learn and express themselves. You can learn more about the laptop here.

We've partnered with OLPC and created [Connect a Kid], an initiative that works to raise funds to purchase laptops, and also aims to raise awareness about the need for global education. Youth register – and then work with friends and family to help kids around the world!
